SOVEREIGN Core provides counseling, advocacy, and referral support services for Black and racialized groups facing pervasive social barriers in Durham Region.
At SOVEREIGN Core (SC), we aim to provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support to Durham Region’s families, women, children, and youth from the Black, African, and Caribbean communities. We seek collaborations with like-minded groups and individuals to build healthy communities, one person at a time. Our commitment is to empower individuals to thrive emotionally and mentally, fostering resilience and well-being where their healing is prioritized and respected, enabling them to reclaim their hope, worth, and well-being. Together, we aim to break down barriers and ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, has access to the mental health resources and support they deserve.
SOVEREIGN Core (SC) works as a catalyst for positive change. Our vision is to create a world where every individual from Black, African, and Caribbean backgrounds in Durham Region experiences the highest levels of mental well-being. We envision a future where mental health stigma and abuse are eradicated, and individuals from these communities have equitable access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Through a holistic approach that values and honors diverse cultural experiences, we aim to heal wounds, foster resilience, instill hope, and reduce disparities for all.
