SOVEREIGN Core provides counseling, advocacy, and referral support services for Black and racialized groups facing pervasive social barriers in Durham Region.
Counseling
We provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed counseling in a safe virtual or in-person environment for individuals to explore their experiences and emotions, helping them heal and build resilience.
Advocacy
We actively engage in advocacy efforts, collaborating with community partners and advocating for policy changes that combat systemic racism, dismantle barriers, and promote equity.
Referral Support
Our service connects clients with essential resources such as mental health professionals, legal aid, educational programs, housing assistance, and employment services tailored to their specific needs.

Empowering Black, African & Caribbean Communities Through Healing and Support
At SOVEREIGN Core (SC), we aim to provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support to Durham Region’s families, women, children, and youth from the Black, African, and Caribbean communities. We seek collaborations with like-minded groups and individuals to build healthy communities, one person at a time. Our commitment is to empower individuals to thrive emotionally and mentally, fostering resilience and well-being where their healing is prioritized and respected, enabling them to reclaim their hope, worth, and well-being. Together, we aim to break down barriers and ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, has access to the mental health resources and support they deserve.
